Was looking at some GT2530s... but friend had to take a better offer for them that I couldn't touch. They were .60 a/r on the compressor, .64 on the exhaust... I'd found some true T28s with a similar a/r on the compressor, but a larger .86 on the exhaust. I know the question has been asked before but when I went searching for it I couldn't seem to locate it, and wanted to ask if someone could explain turbo dynamics in idiot's terms to me. The larger the a/r, the worse the lag correct, but the larger the overall flow? I was told the T28s have a slightly smaller front compressor to compensate slightly for the larger rear a/r and that the turbos would peak full boost before 4krpms and would put off decent power. Thoughts? Ideally I'd probably like a turbo that has a bit of low lag (as I auto-x and would like to start roadracing) so it would be more planted in low rpms in a corner, but would have the acceleration out of the corner and down the straight... how would these turbos perform? Also, I have the option to pick up some Skyline Turbos... But the a/r's are MUCH smaller... a lot closer to stock, and I'm worried that #1, they'll run out of airflow and won't boost too high, #2 they're off ebay... so not sure if I can really trust the guy. Thoughts on the T28s? They're straight OEM turbos, non rebuild/remanfacture crap... I was told they'd put down over 500rwhp on a nicely modded TT with no internals... possible? Where would I stand? I was told the T28s would be good for 20psi all day, 22 extreme scenario (higher octane, etc) and that peak boost would hit before 4krpms and hit 500+rwhp. Truth? Fiction?
